Stylish decor doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg. Check out these 7 super creative thrift store upcycles!

My 4 year old daughter recently found a few small, circular pieces of cardboard inside a box that needed to go out to the recycling bin.  She pulled them out and asked if she could have them.  I said sure and asked her what she was going to do with them.

She said, “I’m going to upcycle them into an umbrella.”

She’s four.

As much as I would love to take credit for this, I unfortunately can not.  She absolutely loves Paw Patrol, and Rocky is her current favorite.  Those of you who have Paw Patrol obsessed children will know what I’m talking about.

For those who don’t, Rocky is a recycling pup.  His motto is “Don’t lose it, reuse it.”  I have to admit, I like the way Rocky thinks.

Needless to say, the upcycling at my house has seen a recent uptick.  😀

I love being able to take a piece that someone else has discarded and transform it into something functional and/or beautiful.  The possibilities for what you can do with a piece are endless, if you are willing to put just a bit of time and effort into it.  Plus, with a bit of time and effort, you can totally customize a piece to fit your needs and tastes.  So, it’s a win all around.

If you follow my blog at all, you will know that I am two months in to a monthly DIY challenge with a fabulous group of bloggers.  Our theme for this month was “Thrift Store Upcycle.”  If you missed the original post, you can find it – along with all of the projects that were share – here.

Right now, though, I am going to share with you 7 of my favorite projects from this recent challenge.  I love every single one of these creative thrift store upcycles.

  1. I think I need to watch Paw Patrol. Rocky sounds like a really cool puppy. What a lovely way to teach kids to care for their environment and think of reusing before simply throwing things away. And I do think your little one learnt a whole bunch from her Mom too. 😉 They all learn by example and you set a beautiful one

    1. Thanks so much, Michelle! We do love ourselves some Paw Patrol at my house. And it is definitely a lesson that I am happy my daughter is learning – no matter who it came from. 😉
