Healthy and Simple Patriotic Popsicles
With Memorial Day coming up, I have been busy testing out various patriotic treats. (Here are some other patriotic treats that I made recently.) I’m always on the lookout for recipes that are easy to put together, yet still taste delicious. These simple patriotic popsicles definitely fit that mold.

We are just starting to get our first taste of summer here in the mid-South. Although the weather can’t seem to make up it’s mind as to what season it is, we have definitely had some days that are bordering on downright hot. These popsicles have been a big hit with my daughter, and they are so refreshing in the heat.
Plus, with only three ingredients, they are a breeze to throw together. All you need are strawberries, blueberries, and lemonade. As for popsicle molds, I would recommend something like the Fox Run 50302 Frozen Ice Pop Maker with Popsicle Sticks.
Although these are incredibly easy to make, you will need to plan a little ahead, as they have to be frozen in three layers.
First, chop up some strawberries. Fill the bottom third of your popsicle molds with strawberries and lemonade. For this first layer, only pour in enough lemonade to cover the strawberries. They tend to float in liquid. So if you want nice, clean layers, you have to do this in three separate layers. No cheating. (Not that I tried or anything…) Then, pop them in the freezer for 2-3 hours.
Once the first layer is frozen, fill the second third of the mold with just lemonade. (This is also when I placed my popsicle sticks in the mold. If you don’t have a mold that will keep the sticks upright, simply place a layer of foil over the entirety of the mold and poke holes through for the popsicle sticks. This will create something similar to what you see in the Fox Run mold pictured above.) Again, pop it in the freezer for a couple of hours.
Once the middle layer is frozen, toss some blueberries in the final third of the mold and top it off with some more lemonade.
As soon as this final layer is frozen, they are ready to eat!

- Strawberries
- Blueberries
- Lemonade
- 1. Cut up strawberries.
- 2. Fill the bottom third of your popsicle molds with strawberries and lemonade, and freeze.
- 3. Once frozen, fill the second third of your mold with just lemonade, and freeze.
- 4. Once the second layer is frozen, fill the rest of the mold with blueberries and lemonade, and freeze.
- 5. Once the final layer is frozen, enjoy!
Have a wonderful, and safe, Memorial Day!
This would be cool for the World Cup, too, to use colors from the two nations in the final. (Hopefully, one is the USA anyway!)
I’m not sure I would have ever thought to use these for a sports event! You’re right, though. You could use them for all sorts of different holidays and events, and just switch up the colors/ingredients. Great idea!
That’s exactly what I was going to suggest! I bet peach, raspberry, or orange would be delicious!
Ooooh, those DO sound good. My daughter loves raspberries. I may have to do Round 2 of these later on in the summer using a different combination… Thanks for taking a look!
I love the idea of real fruit being part of the plan!
Yes! My daughter and I both eat a lot of fruit. It’s so good!

This is such a great recipe! I don’t remember if I still have my popsicle mold or not. But, I’ll need to get another one if I don’t! Hubby loves lemonade and fruit, this would be the perfect treat to surprise him with!
What a fun surprise! I hope you both enjoy them. They are nice to have on hand as the temperature continues to creep upwards. 🙂
